2006 Levy & Bond Review

In 2006 the district’s voters committed to support our students with both a four-year replacement levy for educational programs and operations and a bond to build a new school and remodel and modernize several older buildings.

2006 Bond:

  • Constructed Forest View Elementary School in the south end of our district
  • Completed modernization of Silver Lake and Garfield Elementary Schools
  • Modernizations currently underway at Whittier and Jefferson Elementary Schools
  • Modernizations are coming up at Monroe and View Ridge Elementary Schools and Everett High School gymnasium
  • Purchased property for two future schools in the south end of our district

  • Provided for a simple student-learning facility on the Lively Property and an auxiliary gymnasium at North Middle School
  • Installed a network to support computers for student learning
  • Provided for seismic, lighting and interior mechanical system upgrades for some of our aging schools

2006 Levy:

  • Supported competitive salaries for staff
  • Purchased new curriculum aligned with state standards
  • Supported after-school student activities and athletics
  • Hired additional staff to lower class sizes and support struggling students
  • Made up for state and federal funding shortfalls in areas such as transportation and special education
  • Provided challenging opportunities for students to earn college credit while in high school
  • Instituted programs to support student achievement and enhance the graduation rate such as success coordinators at every high school to support students in danger of not graduating; supported summer opportunities for students to recover credits and classes for students in danger of failing classes during the school year and established and on-time graduation committee to coordinate district-wide strategies to increase the number of graduates.
