Levy Facts
Citizens Supporting the Levy for Everett Public Schools is a volunteer group dedicated to supporting school finance measures such as maintenance and operations levies and school construction bonds.
We work independently of the Everett School District.
2006 Levy & Bond Review
In 2006 the district’s voters committed to support our students with both a four-year replacement levy for educational programs and operations and a bond to build a new school and remodel and modernize several older buildings.
2006 Bond:
- Constructed Forest View Elementary School in the south end of our district
- Completed modernization of Silver Lake and Garfield Elementary Schools
- Modernizations currently underway at Whittier and Jefferson Elementary Schools
- Modernizations are coming up at Monroe and View Ridge Elementary Schools and Everett High School gymnasium
- Purchased property for two future schools in the south end of our district
- Modernized the Everett High School Little Theater
- Provided for a simple student-learning facility on the Lively Property and an auxiliary gymnasium at North Middle School
- Installed a network to support computers for student learning
- Provided for seismic, lighting and interior mechanical system upgrades for some of our aging schools
2006 Levy:
- Supported competitive salaries for staff
- Purchased new curriculum aligned with state standards
- Supported after-school student activities and athletics
- Hired additional staff to lower class sizes and support struggling students
- Made up for state and federal funding shortfalls in areas such as transportation and special education
- Provided challenging opportunities for students to earn college credit while in high school
- Instituted programs to support student achievement and enhance the graduation rate such as success coordinators at every high school to support students in danger of not graduating; supported summer opportunities for students to recover credits and classes for students in danger of failing classes during the school year and established and on-time graduation committee to coordinate district-wide strategies to increase the number of graduates.
2010 Levy for Educational Programs and Operations
- Replaces 4-year levy approved by our voters in 2006
- Continues to provide competitive salaries for staff
- Provides additional staff to lower class size and support struggling students
- Continues to support after-school activity and athletic programs
- Continues to make up for lower than needed funding from the state and federal governments for transportation and special education
- Provides curriculum, materials, and additional learning support for students
2010 Building Repair and Technology Levy
- Replaces worn out and inefficient mechanical systems
- Replaces worn out roofs and upgrades building exteriors to preserve older buildings and realize energy savings
- Provides student learning software and curriculum
- Responds to shortfall in state support of technology
- Upgrades parent access to student progress information
- Adds cost-effective wireless technology systems in schools
- Provides for desk top computers to support student learning
- Replaces worn-out classroom multimedia technology teaching stations as needed
